I can faintly grasp the meaning of the text. I try to hold on and get it to come into focus. I think I know what he is saying. I like the thought that a Picasso Cubist painting is no longer art, it is now an historical objet d'art, that is interesting as a collectors piece. This does help me when I look at art of the past and feel that 'yes, I can appreciate that it was innovative in its day' or 'yes, its aesthetically pleasing' but it leaves me completely unmoved, and unexcited. It has no real power to affect me.
Is this like technology that has moved on? Something that is now surpassed or made redundant?
But then it all becomes confusing again. A moment of debate and its lost. I can't really cope to argue the point and really feel comfortable with what it all means (regardless of whether I believe it or not).
Will practice help?
