"No matter if you are a musician, an artist, or a writer, I believe, there is no such thing as a 'best circumstance' and, therefore, I say we all have our complaints, our grumbles, and our less than perfect state. But this cannot become your excuse - the desert grows its own kind of grass, and tropical plants only thrive in the rainforest, so debating our circumstances or external conditions is completely pointless. Any environment is still your environment, and everyone has his or her own unique situation. People who cannot adapt to different circumstances should be left to their own devices. What I'm saying is: if one method proves useless, create another, if you are not equipped with creativity, you're a goner, and you deserve your fate. People who believe they are standing in a worse-off place truly have a problem because, actually, everyone is standing on equal ground."

'Models required' happened as part of the opening event of Chapter 14: philosophy of the elephant held at Gabriel Fine Arts gallery near Waterloo. It provoked a lot of conversations around the idea of identity - how do we feel when we have our hair cut? How does it affect our identity? How do we feel about being subjected to a hair cut in the unusual environment of the gallery? What trust do we place in the identity and ability of the hairdresser? Are we bothered at all or are we highly sensitive to who we allow to make the approach with a pair of scissors?
It was quite an experience for me and something I'd like to explore further.
